The profession of orthopedic technology

The aim is always to improve mobility after an illness, an accident or a congenital limitation or to achieve freedom from pain and physiologically correct movement sequences in order to live as actively and independently as possible. In everyday language, customers come to our practice to see an “orthopaedist” or they say: “You have to go to an orthopedic doctor with this problem”. In the population, the difference between the two job profiles is often not clear. The orthopedist is the doctor who makes the diagnosis and, if necessary, carries out surgical interventions.

Orthopedic technician
We, orthopedic technicians, often work according to the prescription of a general practitioner or specialist, e.g. an orthopedist, who analyzes the clinical picture and makes a diagnosis.

This prescription from the doctor must be submitted for applications and cost estimates, e.g. to the IV, the SUVA, or to the health insurance company for the assumption of the costs of orthopedic technical care. As an orthopedic technician, you combine craftsmanship with medical and technical know-how in your daily work, as well as dealing with people of all ages.

 Orthopedic technicians create aids for people with restricted walking, standing or sitting ability. We manufacture insoles, prostheses, orthoses and rehabilitation aids, adapt them individually to the customer and provide information on how to use them.
